Setting Up Triggers

For your CloudTrigger to be able control other devices and services it must be set up with triggers. These integrations with 3rd party services are provided through IFTTT, which is a free online service. Create an IFTTT account if you don't already have one. During your first time setting up a new trigger, you will be prompted to connect your IFTTT account. A one time authentication will also be required to connect to each 3rd party service. You must create an account through these services' websites or mobile apps before attempting to connect them to your CloudTrigger account.

There are two methods for adding triggers to your CloudTrigger: with predefined trigger templates, or through custom IFTTT triggers. Using the predefined templates is simpler of the two options, allowing you to autheticate with the service and set up the trigger directly from our mobile app. Dozens of templates have been premade for some of our most popular services.

If you don't see what you're looking for among the templates, you can try creating a custom triggers via IFTTT. IFTTT has hundreds of services to choose from, and in some cases will also have additional actions for those services where we do offer predefined templates. IFTTT's free account allows you to create a few custom applets, where a low priced subscription is required for additional custom applets. After creating the custom trigger on our app, you are then directed over to IFTTT's Create page to finish setting up the applet. Click the "Add" button next to "If This", and select CloudTrigger from the list of available triggers. You can then choose the name of the previously created trigger name from the select field. After saving, you will continue by selecting a service to be executed when the trigger is run.

If you're loading a lot of triggers onto your device, you may also want to group them into folders. These could be by device type, such as grouping all of your Hue Lights triggers together. Or you could group them by room, such as placing the bedroom lights, plugs and fans into the same folder.

After you've finished creating triggers on our app, hold the right button on your CloudTrigger remote for 2 seconds to sync it with your latest triggers.
